Why did you run for Scot Council?
Scot Council has the first ever first-generation and/or low income (FGLI) representative and I felt I was the right person for the job. I struggled a lot when deciding to campaign because I believe students should spread knowledge and access. The concept of FGLI visibility has only been pushed and challenged at Wooster for less than 4 years. I wanted to pass on all of my advocacy work within the First-Generation Student Organization and let other FGLI student leaders rise, so I was worried about negatively coalescing resources and access to information. There could have been a world where there wasn’t enough room for others to learn how to advocate and navigate Wooster. Leaders can get blindsided when doing their work that new leaders, no matter what year they are, have a hard time stepping up. I initially planned my senior year to be solely dedicated to school, friends, and applying to law school. However, I realized that my senior year was meant to be a stepping stone to mentor and prep other FGLI students leaders in FGSO, Tri-Alpha, and students not participating in those spaces for when I leave. For me, 2020-2022 is about building community, visibility, and accessibility. Once that is accomplished, the FGLI community will be better off at Wooster.

Why did you run for Scot Council?
I decided to stop complaining and be the change that I hoped for. I wanted to truly represent people that often felt marginalized and give them a voice.
Favorite thing about Wooster?
Wooster has some of the best people that I wouldn’t trade for the world.

Why did you run for Scot Council?
I ran to ensure that during the merger, the concerns of Queer or LGBTQIA+ students on campus do not go unheard and ignored, all while working to inform students on how Student Governance functions and advocacy initiatives develop on campus. I don’t seek to solely be a “middleman” between constituents and Scot Council or Administration, on the contrary, I have witnessed how the disempowers students. I hope to serve in whatever capacity constituents need me and be as transparent with students as possible.
Favorite thing about Wooster?
The Library, it sounds silly but so much goes on there beyond just studying, it’s definitely a good place to make memories.
Fun Fact! I’ll be studying remotely this semester and hope to be back as soon as possible. Until then, I am an email away from constituents! Don’t hesitate to reach whenever needed, I’m down to always talk fill-in students on the current happening and bust down virtual office doors on your behalf LOL.

Why did you run for Scot Council?
To create a space where the student body feels comfortable sharing their concerns and use my position in addressing those concerns to the administration.
Favorite thing about Wooster?
As someone who prefers small groups, I love the small community that’s found here.
Fun Fact! Once my dad was approaching me from the opposite direction while walking and I didn’t recognize him because I wasn’t wearing my glasses. I completely ignored him and took a turn. I’m called the blind daughter of Thapa family during dinners, after that incident.
